Cell size: 1.5-12 µm, sized for Breeders, Aquarists & Propagators. Includes pH buffer and ammonia neutralizer. Refrigerated.RG COMPLETE

A blend of the 6 most widely used marine microalgae for use with invertebrates: Isochrysis, Pavlova, Tetraselmis, Chaetoceros calcitrans, Thalassiosira weissflogii  and  Thalassiosira pseudonana  that has demonstrated success with a variety of shellfish and other invertebrates such as bivalves, brine shrimp, tube worms, & sea cucumber larvae.

Apex-Pods are an excellent food source that attracts finicky fish, such as mandarin dragonets, pipefish, Anthias sp. and wrasses.  This copepod can also be fed to invertebrates, such as SPS, LPS and NPS corals, as well as other filter feeders. Smaller than Reef Nutrition’s Tigger-Pods®, stage 1 nauplii are approximately 70 micron and adults are approximately 600 to 700 microns.

Because Tigger-Pods (Tigriopus californicus copepods) swim upwards with a stimulating, jerky motion, they are attractive to a wide range of fish like Mandarin dragonets, Seahorses and Pipefish. They are easy to culture and perfect for propagation or restocking refugia. They breed rapidly, producing scores of eggs per female.

MEET THE REEF ROCK STARS!

The Brachionus plicatilis (L-type) species is euryhaline, capable of thriving in salinities of 5-40 ppt. It is available in quantities from 1 million to 1.5 billion, concentrated and packaged into "breathable" bags.

Under our culture conditions at Reed Mariculture, our L-Rotifers grow to a maximum of about 235 µm, with most fertile ones around 210 µm. 

The Rotifer Starter Kit includes 1 Million Brachionus plicatilis (L-type) rotifers, a 6 oz. bottle of RGcomplete, and an 8" x 8" Rotifer Floss.

Reef Nutrition's new Breeder's Choice Roti-Clean Filter is designed to make benchtop-scale medium density culturing of rotifers simple and reliable. Live rotifers, are essential first-feeds for the larvae of many fish (for example, Clownfish) and the Roti-Clean Filter system makes growing them easy!

The Roti-Clean filter conveniently fits on the side of a 5-gallon bucket. The water movement through the filter aerates the culture, keeps the phytoplankton and rotifers suspended, and has a filter floss insert for waste removal.

Daily maintenance of the culture (aside from feeding and harvesting) is simple. See our maintenance instructions for details.

ROTIFER CULTURING SUPPORT (REED MARICULTURE)

The sieve’s clear acrylic cylinder makes it easy to see the animals being collected. The sieve is 4" in diameter and 4.5" tall.  Ideal for harvesting rotifers produced in Reef Nutrition’s Compact Culture System (CCS) and harvesting copepods

The Compact Culture System™ (CCS) makes culturing rotifers easy & reliable! Rotifers are essential first-feeds for the larvae of many fish. Commercial performance at bench top scale.

The CCS turns a 5-gallon bucket into a continuous growth and harvest high-density rotifer system. Comes with a custom-made fitting that incorporates an aerator and a particulate waste trap. Aeration provides oxygenation and water circulation that draws particulate wastes into the trap (floss).

Daily maintenance of the culture (aside from feeding and harvesting) requires only 5 minutes to flush the wastes from the trap and brush the interior surfaces of the bucket. The CCS is sturdy and easily transported, and includes a flexible translucent cover that isolates the culture from contamination.

NOTE: ClorAm-X should not be added to water containing active therapeutic dosages of dyes such as methylene blue, acriflavine or malachite green. ClorAm-X will interfere with their performance. ClorAm-X in combination with these products will not result in toxic chemical by-products.
